Float the Frio
Clear, spring-fed and shaded by cypress, the Frio is made for a lazy tube down the river. Rentals are easy to find in Concan and Leakey.
Garner State Park
A Texas classic — hiking, swimming, and paddle boats by day, with the legendary summer dance still part of local lore. Trails climb to big canyon views.
Lost Maples
A rare stand of bigtooth maples that lights up in autumn. Come November, the canyon color is worth the short drive and the walk.
Ranch Road 337
One of the most beautiful drives in Texas — the Twisted Sisters loop rolls over ridgelines and down into the canyons. Windows down, no rush.
Local Eats
From roadside barbecue to a cold drink in Leakey, the canyon keeps it simple and good. One of our favorites is the Bent Rim Grill.
